Happy Recap

You think maybe El Duque had something to prove last night? If so, he did, and with aplomb. A complete game is huge for the sore arms in our pen, and between the second and ninth innings the diminutive Cuban didn't allow a hit.

Our offense was again firing, scoring 7 runs despite going through a stretch of 13 straight retired batters by the DBacks pitching. The biggest plus was our ability to go station to station grinding out runs, and not relying so much on the long ball despite Beltran's monster shot (on an 0-2 count) early in the game.

Speaking of which, Carlos is now within one home run of his total from all of last year. He will hit at least 40 this season. GOD WILLS IT! And at 13 games above .500, we're at our high water mark for the season thus far. And right now is not the first, nor the last, time I will ever urge us to "get a lot higher."

BBPOTS Player of the Game: Orlando Hernandez
