Update

I retroactively awarded player of the game awards that I missed out on during my move...David Allen Wright's hot streak, combined with the fact that Delgado hasn't Del-gotten-one in awhile, has moved our Lord and Saviour into the top spot.

5/27: David Wright
5/28: Carlos Beltran
5/30: Jose Valentin
6/3 double dip: David Wright and Tom Glavine

Recap

A great game, in which we finally got to Cokehead Benitez--with Lastings getting his first home run to tie the game in extra innings, and we squander the great comeback. Talk about highs and lows. Oh, and David Allen Wright hit two bombs, one to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Eleven of the Metropolitans' 55 games have gone to extra frames this year, and that's a frightening number, especially for the bullpen.

Our relievers have thrown 189 innings thus far this year, second only in the majors to the Kansas City Royals. We're also tied with the Braves for most one-run games, at 24. Our bullpen is strong, but if we're taxed this much for the whole season there are going to be a lot of tired arms beyond the right field fence come fall.

Momma Miss America

I don't know who the player of the game was last night. I was drunk.

But we split the double dip on a day when the Braves and the Phils lost, so that's decent. El Duque still concerns me.

Last night, in summation:

If the rain comes they run and hide their heads.
They might as well be dead,
If the rain comes, if the rain comes.

When the sun shines they slip into the shade,
And sip their lemonade,
When the sun shines, when the sun shines.

Ra-ain, I don't mind,
Shi-ine, the weather's fine.

I can show you that when it starts to rain,
(when the rain comes down)
Everything's the same,
(when the rain comes down)
I can show you, I can show you.

Ra-ain, I don't mind,
Shi-ine, the weather's fine.

Can you hear me that when it rains and shines,
(when it rains and shines)
It's just a state of mind,
(when it rains and shines)
Can you hear me, can you hear me
