Happy Recap

Well good morning to you, and how you be! Hotfoot Fan here, you there, and has there ever been a better time to be a fan of the New York Metropolitans?

Quite simply, last night's game was one we had to win. You don't go 16 innings at home and not pull it out with a walkoff, plain and simple. And what a man to provide the final blast, no other than Carlos Beltran, the much-maligned one. What will he have to do to prove his worth to fair-weather Mets fans? Let's hope he did it last night, when he took a Ryan Madson into the bullpen to end nearly five and a half hours of madness, the longest game in the majors thus far this season.

What is it about the Metropolitans and extra innings? We've played eight games into extra frames, more than any other team baseball, and though we're 4-4 in those games, we should be better. More encouraging is the fact that last night's win brought us to 13-6 in one-run contests; no other team in the division is above .500 in such games.

We need to come up with some sort of Soler chant or theme song.

BBPOTS Player of the Game: Carlos Beltran
