Happy Recap

I've been watching SNY and SportsCenter, and I can't tell you how little I care if Barbaro gets sent off to the glue factory. Let's stick to the people-sports.

I really don't understand why Jason Giambi doesn't get booed more. Sheffield too. I just don't get it. And it bothers me. I would boo him if I was a Yankee fan, but then again, I also believe in dignity. I mean, even Barry Lamar Bonds didn't have his steroids sent to his parents' house. As my own personal friend Devins Rush is fond of saying, "You give dirt, you get dirt. And that fat fuck needs to get stuff thrown at him."

A big win for the Metropolitans tonight, a solid victory over the other team in town. Some well placed homers and better placed double plays. And mentally, what a relief after yesterday's debacle. I've been told there was a near riot at the Beer Garden in Astoria after Wagner's ninth on Saturday.

Some more random thoughts: Am I the only one that thinks Aaron Small looks at least a little mentally disabled?

And who is this Counter Bean pitcher for the Yanks? And why, just because he has the name of a NASCAR Truck Series driver, is he allowed to lick his hand after every pitch. I've never seen anything like it. Licking his hand, his whole hand, with his fist in his own mouth. Unreal.

Thank goodness the Gods of Gotham only play the Yankees in what are considered "big games." Otherwise Alex Rodriguez would do more than ground into double plays all series.

For the record, Wagner did throw a clear third strike to Bernie Williams, although it was called otherwise. The inning wouldn't have been quite as risky otherwise.

It's good for baseball, and the millions of young kids playing this great game, every time the Yankees lose. Ubi solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant. They're terrible people, owned by a terrible person. Although I guess Steinbrenner didn't haev a choice in that. He is from Ohio.

BBPOTS METS FAN OF THE WEEK: Tie, Patrick Ewing (he was at the game) and Ricardo Montoban
BBPOTS ORIOLES FAN OF THE WEEK: Phillip Seymour Hoffman (he was at the game too)

Yankees fans, Mets fans, whatever. I think we all can agree that Joe Morgan and Jon Miller are shitty broadcasters.

Sunday - Pregame

I have nothing to say about yesterday's game. For the past 20 hours or so, I've been inconsolable. Like Tony after Christopher was shot. Lumped over in a chair. Muttering. How did this happen?
